Default Bhool Bhulaiya Review

Director: Priyadarshan
Cast: Akshay Kumar* Vidya Balan* Paresh Rawal* Shiny Ahuja* Amisha Patel
Release Date: October 12* 2007

Bhool Bhulaiya is the new bollywood movie by priyadarsan.Bhool Bhuliaya is the remake of earlier malayalm movie Manichitratazhu of Mohanlal.Manichitratazhu was earlier remade as Chandramukhi in tamil in which Style Mannan Rajinikanth was the hero and as Aptamitra in telugu .In the hindi remake Akshay kumar does the role of Mohanlal and Vidya Balan does the role of Shobana(Shobana won the best actress award that year). It is now a hobby for directors to remake Mohanlals early movies.

The film is a story set in a small village* whose residents are conservative and superstitious people. There is an ancestral palace in the village* which belongs to Badhi* played by Manoj Joshi* who heads a Brahmin family* and this ‘haveli’ is believed to be haunted. Soon* Siddharth played by Shiny Ahuja and Avni played by the beautiful Vidya Balan* the son and daughter-in-law of Badhi’s elder brother* pay a visit to their native village after having returned from America* and plan to stay there for a month.

As soon as Avni makes the ‘mistake’ of opening up a locked and forbidden room in the ancestral palace* strange and unexplainable things start happening in the palace. This is when Badhi and Batuk Shankar* the very talented Paresh Rawal* try to get rid of the evil haunting their mansion* by seeking help of everyone from a black magician to a ghost buster. Also* the blame is evenly put on Radha* characterised by Amisha Patel* who is the adopted daughter of Badhi. Finally* Akshay Kumar* who plays an American psychiatrist* enters the scenario as Dr. Aditya Shrivastav* who is not just a friend of Siddharth but also makes use of modern techniques to find out who is the person behind all the mayhem. And so on* begins a turbulent ride as the film* in Priyadarshan’s trademark style* throws one surprise after another. Well* those who have seen the promos are very excited and even the background music used in the promo is top-notch. We hope this one turns out to be another Malamaal Weekly for the director* more so in the literal sense!
